Mentech Announces 400G QSFP-DD SR8 Transceiver

Sep 24 , 2020

Large-scale data centers see substantial growth as demands for cloud computing resources continue to increase dramatically. Rapid growth of data traffic globally pushes existing 100G-powered data centers towards higher speed, more bandwidth and lower delay --- a trend that has cemented 400G Ethernet as the next iteration for data center upgrades.

Optical transceivers are a crucial component in optical networking inside a data center and are projected to account for up to 50% of the cost in this scenario as the number and density of ports grow. At present 100G is widely adopted in recently-built data centers; transitions to 400G are poised to happen in the coming two to three years. 400G has become the industry's focal point.

To meet this need, Mentech announces the release of our 400G QSFP-DD SR8 transceiver. Based fully upon a Broadcom solution, the new lineup is compatible with existing QSFP+ and QSFP28 form factors. With a small footprint and ease-of-maintenance, this new module offers a robust and economical solution for short-range networking in modern data centers.
